Acne is known as pimple is a skin disease that manifests itself in every human being, especially during adolescence. The oil stems from the fact that the sebaceous follicles (follicle) are clogged with a thicker oil layer on the skin surface and the oil (sebum) secreted by the sebaceous glands can not be released outside the skin. Almost every person is seen at certain times. The body performs its own treatment over time without the need for any external intervention. The sebaceous glands take their name from sebum, which is an oily substance that they produce. Under normal conditions, sebum will appear along the hair follicle and come out to the surface of the skin. When acne occurs, sebum remains in the follicle and can not go out. Acne occurs more frequently in areas such as the face, neck, back, upper arms and shoulders where sebaceous glands are more intense.
Acne is a phenomenon that also includes genetic features. In fact, everyone can have a certain degree of acne problem, but some people have genetic predisposition to some acne species. If the mother or father has had an acne problem in adolescence or at any stage of his life, his or her child is more likely to have acne.
Acne usually occurs when the body begins to produce androgen hormone more. When androgen production reaches its highest level between ages 11-14, the number of acnes also increases. In young women, hormone levels that change due to the menstrual cycle also cause exacerbations in the teeth. These changes also affect the sensitivity of sebaceous glands to androgens.
The closed follicle is a suitable medium for bacterial growth. Especially the bacteria that live in this environment is P.Acnes bacteria. This bacterium is fed with sebum and it is found in the skin of everyone, whether it is acne or not. When the oil is blocked and the sebaceous glands are filled, the P. acnes bacteries multiply much more quickly. The chemicals produced by the bacterium cause inflammation in the follicle and on the skin surface.
The sebaceous glands begin to produce more sebum after being stimulated by androgens. The oily sebum accumulates in the follicle and moves upwards. As you move up, normal skin combines with bacteria and dead skin cells. As the production of sebum increases, the likelihood of the hair follicle becoming clogged and causing comedones is also increasing.
